He’s the ideological forehead of the band.  😉

in 1965 mane bock and his friends founded the band schaggy badge (later renamed schäggi bädsch) in karlsruhe, germany. until 1985 the band attracted attention in different line-ups. at first the band was active in karlsruhe, later all over germany. from flensburg to passau they played in trendy clubs, youth centres, concert halls and at many open air festivals (during this time the motto “free of charge and outdoors” was created).

in the early 70s, the band supported the environmental campaign “rettet den rhein” (save the rhine), which drew attention to the poor water condition of the rhine with a ship trip on the freighter “avontuurer” from basel to rotterdamm. at the berths of the ship the band gave a concert and in these events the increasing pollution of the Rhine was pointed out. this action caused a lot of attention and was accompanied by the media (press and television) from beginning to end.

in 1982 schäggi left bädsch karlsruhe and moved to bavaria to run the music bar “bluespunkt”. there the band worked on their musical development. at that time the musicians hubl greiner – achim juhl – derek hauffen – ulrike schimpf played with mane at the band and developed their own musical style. two years later the band moved to the palatinate and wilfried sahm joined the band.

with schäggi bädsch, the band managed a balancing act between krautrock and independent (partly experimental) music with driving rhythms as well as influences from different styles and cultures.

on the tours and concerts contacts to bands and musicians arose, among others: guru guru, embryo, checkpoint charlie, missus beastly, kling klong, captain sperrmüll, munju, schröder roadschow, chris karrer (amon düül).
“i also like to remember the days with the south indian tavil drummer paramaschivam pillai (a true master of this drum), who spent some time in our house and played together with us for many hours. during this time he was on tour in europe with the world musician roland schaeffer”.

after the band schäggi bädsch had split up in 1985, mane toured germany with checkpoint charlie for almost two years.

after these many years on the stages of the republic, mane shifted his interest and concentrated on his work in the music studio. in the studios of frank farian in rosbach and in
st. ingbert in saarland and hansa studio in berlin, more than 20 recordings were produced and distributed nationally and internationally.

between 1986 and 1992, mane and siegfried ipach founded and built up a publishing house (musicolor), a sound carrier distributor (cosmus) and a production company (musicolor). there, among other things, young artists were given the opportunity to have an lp/cd produced in a professional environment. for some years mane worked with sydney youngblood and charles shaw, with singer george mcgrae he produced the cd “i feel love for you”, which was placed in german and english charts for a few weeks, with singer dirk zöllner and his band the cd “café grössenwahn” was created.

after this time mane played in different bands, among others with wapiti, of5, docfarbe. regular jam’s with musician friends enrich his musical impression.

from 1998 to 2011 mane played in several band projects, including lunatic croakers, schallmaurer and quest. after many years of excursions into the different musical styles, he makes his own rock music (back to rock) with these bands. with these bands were: sibilly chiarella (voc), thomas walther (git), christoph kappler (bass), stefan keller (drums, voc) and hendrik brüggemann (bass, voc).

besides these rock bands, mane also played with the “stahlband”, a band project founded by lothar stahl, from 2008 to 2011. with lothar stahl (drums, xylophone, perc.), jens pollheide (flute, bass), julia jung (voc), dieter schult (bass), manfred mc geyer (oud, git), jörg schöllhorn (keyboards) and many guest musicians, mane again travelled all over germany and played many live concerts. as a musical style, the term “world music” is very apt, a mixture of jazz and rock with oriental influences and many odd bars.

starting in 2012, mane invited some of their friends to meet regularly in order to play freely in the studio. this is how the project “MAF” (mane and friends) came into being, which is still a lot of fun for the participating musicians even after a few years and is the occasion for this homepage.
